Chimney Inspections are performed to help determine the overall condition of the chimney flue and firebox as well as the readily visible areas of the chimney at the exterior and in the attic.
Generally, we inspect the exterior portion of the chimney first. If necessary and when safe to do so, we will walk the roof and access the attic area. At the interior, the firebox and other related components such as the hearth and mantle are visually inspected. We then use a camera system to inspect the smoke chamber, throat, and chimney flue. While most of the comments in our report will pertain to defects witnessed during the inspection, some comments will relate to ongoing maintenance as many components for a chimney system will wear and deteriorate with time.
A PDF-based report outlining the materials, defects, maintenance items, and recommendations for further action (if required).
Our inspectors are equipped with a variety of different camera systems for inspecting chimney flues. Including Chim-Scan, Ferret, and GoPro.
The final report will be delivered within 24 hours of the inspection.
